Welcome to The
Driving College..
The Theory Test
This web site will prepare you
for the theory test by allowing you to practice
answering questions and taking mock tests until you feel confident that you can pass the real thing first time.
You should spend some time with
the Practise Questions before taking
Mock Tests to build confidence. When you get used to the practise questions you
should start taking mock tests. You can take unlimited mock theory tests any
time you like completely free of charge. Your scores are recorded so that you
can see how well you're doing over time.
When you
can achieve three mock test passes in a row, you should apply for to take the
real DSA theory
test and then keep taking mock tests until your test date arrives. You'll need
to score at least 86% to pass a mock test.
Know Your
Signs
A very important part of driving is learning
what all the traffic signs mean. There's a lot of them but we've made it very
easy for you. Just open the 'Traffic
Signs' page and move your mouse over any sign to view it's meaning. After a
while you should be able to tell yourself what a sign means before you move your
mouse over it. Eventually they will be committed to memory!
Driving
Test Faults
There are hundreds of faults you could
make on your driving test which is why you must find a good driving instructor
that knows them all off by heart and can bring them to your attention during
your driving lessons.
At the start your driving test
the examiner regards you as a 'perfect' driver unless you show him otherwise. He
has a
marking sheet on his lap and he simply records any driving errors he sees
you make during the forty odd minute drive around the test route - it's as
simple as that. If you don't make any driving errors, he can't mark anything
down and you will definitely 100% pass!
You can view most of the possible
faults that can occur on your driving test by viewing our interactive 'Driving
Test Faults' page. Just move your mouse over an item to view the possible
faults the examiner is looking for. As with the traffic signs page (above), you
can dramatically reduce your time-to-test by learning the faults off by heart.
This may take you while but you will definitely learn to drive safely much
faster and you'll save lots of money on driving lessons if you study them
religiously.
Unfortunately no-one is a perfect
driver (no matter how long they've been driving) and the examiner knows that. He
also knows you have probably only been driving for a few weeks or months and
that you don't have much experience behind you so he will try to give you the
benefit of the doubt wherever possible. Every mark he makes on the marking sheet
is carefully considered before being written down. Theoretically, you can make
up to 15 minor errors and still pass so it's not that bad. The examiner just
wants to know if you will be a safe enough driver until you can get more
experience behind the wheel on your own.
Show
Me, Tell Me
At the start of your driving test you will be
required to answer some basic questions about car maintenance and safety. You
will fail your test if you are unable to answer any of these questions
satisfactorily and you will not be allowed to drive. A minor mark will be
recorded if you get a couple wrong.

Me/Tell Me' questions
